framed Revolutionary War, Connecticut Line NOTE for Military Service

$165.00

Revolutionary War, State of Connecticut issued NOTE Military Service in the Connecticut Line. -7 ¼” w. x 3 ¾” h. Then NOTE, printed on bank stock paper, was issued June 1, 1782 to Lt John Hollenbeck, for the sum of 11 Pounds, 5 Shillings and 6 Pence. Below his name are the terms of the note. The top and bottom edges have a ribbon design onto which is incorporated; ‘FOR THE PAYMENT OF, THE CONNECTICUT LINE”. The reverse side is inked with interest payments through the years 1783 to 1789. The nearly 1” circle punched out of the note indicates that it was paid in full and retired. This Revolutionary note is sandwiched between two pieces of glass, with a simple paper mat on the front. It is framed in a nicely molded walnut wood frame with an early brass ring and screw eye, from which it hung. The frame is 8 ½” x 5 ½” and it is old but not as old as the note. It is framed in a folksy way, likely done by Lt Hollenbeck. This is a nice Revolutionary War Payment Note, it is bold with a great lay-out and is very readable. Price: $165.00 (ref. B-814)
