Imperial German Eagle Leather Stationary Desk Set
Imperial German Eagle Leather Stationary Desk Set
Imperial German Eagle Desk Set. Tooled leather 10 1/2” tall x 8 1/8” wide with a 10 1/4” x 7 3/8” ink blotter folder. This is a lovely, well made German stationary Desk Set. On it’s front is an impressed German Imperial Eagle; the heraldic emblem of The German Empire. It is also known as the Reichsadler. The eagle was used by the German Empire and appears, modernized, in Germany’s current flag. This example having black, gilt and red detailing that is very well done. The folder is lined in fine green leather, and has pockets for stationary and envelopes. Held inside is a green grogram cloth covered blotter paper folder. It has several pages of nicely used ink marks from blotting letters done in liquid ink, such as used in a fountain pen. The upper spine has some modest wear, and there are a few ink stains on the back cover. This was probably a high end souvenir available in pre-1933 Germany. It would be commanding on a desk in a library or office. Price: $120.00 (ref. C-310)
