U.S. WW2 Surrender Leaflet against the Germans. In the Allied Drive east, 1944

$45.00

U.S. WW2 Surrender Leaflet against the Germans. 5 ¼” x 8 7/16”. It shows German Army Lt. General von Schlieben, who along with 18,000 German troops, held the Port City, Cherbourg, for three days, after being cut off by the Allies shortly after the D-Day invasion. They surrendered, and were transported to England as POW’s. It is easy to see and read why German troops reading this leaflet would be demoralized. The reverse gives “The sober truth about captivity. “1. Fair treatment…, 2. Good food…, 3. First-class hospital care” This example is printed on newspaper, and has been folded into a smaller size. There are some thin areas of crease, most noticible in the verticle crease on the lower half, visible through the text and into the General’s greatcoat. There is upper corner loss and edge chipping. However this leaflet is sound and the text is fully readable. The German Army was being pushed out of France and were in retreat. This leaflet says a lot about the fall of Fortress Europa. Price: $45.00 (ref. B-603h)
