Bimini Glass Cordials w/ animal figures. Set of nine, Fritz Lampl, circa 1923
Bimini Glass Cordials w/ animal figures. Set of nine, Fritz Lampl, circa 1923
Bimini Glass Cordials w/ animal figures and double color swirling. Bimini Glass was started in 1923 in Vienna, Austria, by Fritz Lampl. Each glass is hand blown using lamp glass. The bowls have a swirl of red and white. Each base is 2 5/8” in diameter and has a slight green coloring. The glass blower, working with Fritz, or one of his brothers-in-law; Artur or Josef Berger, at their side directing the creation, heated and blew the glass, then re-heated it and continued to create these lovely shapes and finished products. There are nine glasses in this set. It is rare to have this many of one of Bimini’s loveliest styles of cordial glasses in a set. Each glass is approximately 7 1/4” tall, with a 3” diameter bowl which holds approximately 3 ½ ounces of fluid. Each glass weighs a mere 2 ounces and has a globe at the stem top and a lantern bubble below. Each globe has a whimsical animal within it; a yellow doe, a red and blue fox, a blue and red dog, and so forth. No two are exactly alike. These are most certainly made by Bimini determined by their fine craftsmanship and design, and not by one of the many imitators that copied their work. Fritz Lampl described these as “frozen poetry” in glass. These Bimini cordials would make an impression at a garden party or displayed on a backlit shelf. Attractively priced as a set. Price: $1,500.00 (ref. A-206)
