Creamware MOCHA decorated Tankard. It has colorful Marbleized decoration, a green machined rim, and an applied handle . English, circa 1830’s-40’s. 6” tall x 4 3/8” diameter body x 6 1/4” wide w/ handle. It has a brown to orange marbleized body with a green machined rim. The applied handle has green glazed trifed decorations where it attaches to the body. There is a 4” old crack visible inside at the handle, a 2 1/2” fine crack, and a 1 “ very fine crack. These cracks are darkened from their age, most viseble on the tankard’s interior. These cracks probably caused this piece to be retired from everyday use. Mocha decorated wears were only a bit more expensive to produce than un-decorated wares in the early 1800’s. They arecollected for their colorful, one-of-a-kind decorations.
