Mocha decorated Tankard, Earthworm and Cat's Eye

$1,250.00

Creamware MOCHA decorated Tankard. It is decorated with a Polychrome Earth Worm Band and two Cat’s Eye decorations. English, circa 1830’s-40’s. 6” tall x 4 ¼” diameter body x 6” wide w/ handle. Dark and medium brown Mocha banding at top and bottom and middle with two tan central bands, and having a earth worm pattern in lt blue, white and brown. Two Cat Eye decorated buttons show on the side of the body (viewing with the handle left). The applied handle has trifed decorations where it attaches to the body. Two chips show at the sides of the base, with several more flakes visable from the bottom. The bottom rim ring has nice old wear from use, and a light stain to the glazing on the body bottom. The body and handle are otherwise free of expected blemishes or hairline cracks. Mocha decorated wears were cheap to produce in the early 1800’s and are collected for their one-of-a-kind decorations. This example with it’s large size and vivid colors and decorations is a wonderful example of Mochaware. Price: $1250.00 (ref. A-13)
