WEDGWOOD Recticulated Lidded Chestnut Baskets, 1883

$750.00

Wedgwood Reticulated and Lidded Chestnut Baskets. Creamware made in 1883. 9 ½” x 6 ½” x 8” tall. A pair in form, but each having it's own decoration. The blackberry and vine decorated example has green piping. Lovely detailing of the fruit and leaves. The flower and vine example has yellow piping, and similar in-painted detailing to the flowers and leaves. The markings on the bases; under glaze impressed "WEDGWOOD" and "3ZL".  And, "5165" and a Broad Arrow logo applied mark are on the blackberry fruit base. A weakly pressed "WEDGWOOD" and a "muddy" three digit impressed mark.  And an applied mark, "Q5058" are on the flower decorated base. The three digit code on the fruit base dates these to 1883, a "L" year. The condition issues; there is a loss of green glaze piping on the blackberry base, ~1/8". Some speck green glaze losses to the piping on the top rim piping. Still, I would rate this condition as very fine. The flower decorated example has no issues and is excellent. These are a pair of fine Wedgwood Creamware with pleasing decoration and presence! Price: $750 (ref. A-212)
