Portuguese Air Force Paratrooper Officer's Green Beret. circa 1960's

$145.00

Portuguese Air Force Officer’s Paratrooper Beret This officers’ badge was in use from the 1961-66 period, worn by officers of the Portuguese Air Force Paratroopers. It is the second type of the first three designs that were used. It is a semi-solid construction with red and white enamel and nicely detailed gilded insignia and has an attachment pin as shown. It is a nice quality badge. The red felt cloth behind the could be for the Air Force Paratroop instructors, but that is my guess, and is unknown to collectors I talk with. The beret has had the tie cord pulled (typical), and is of a heavy green wool felt material. There are three moth nips into the surface of the top and some very minor use spots. These are minor and hard to see. The inside is lined in black cloth and has a sweat panel in its top without any maker’s name or logo. There is a foil stamp with the size; “57”. This is a nice Colonial Wars period beret from when Portugal was involved in conflicts in it’s African colonies. Price: $145.00 (C-269k)
