U.S. M-3 Fighting Knife, UTICA, blade-marked.The 8 groove handle is darkened with light bruising has lightly rounded grooves. The guard is tight on the knife. It has darkened metal finish on the handle side and nearly all it’s finish on the blade side. The pommel is peened with muliple strikes and there is a 1/4” Ordnance flaming bomb “logo” next to the tang. The blade is full, but not sharp. It could be a dull factory edge. The blade flat is marked; “U.S. M-3 UTICA”. There is approximately 50-60% medium gray parkerized finish on the blade with scabbard-wear on the blade flats, and parkerizing wear at highlights and edges. It comes with an early M-8 sheath w no belt devise and w/ green web hanger and knife securing snap strap. It has lightly worn green finish at the throat to the front of the body. The total production of the nine manufacturers of M-3 Fighting Knives in WW2 was 2,590,247 knives produced. Utica was one of the largest producers with 655,230 knives made. This is a honest field used example, It has plent of original finish and comes in an early M-8 scabbard. Price: $575.00 (ref. A4-5)
