U.S. Model 1917 Bayonet with a WW2 Plastic/Metal Scabbard- VG++
U.S. Model 1917 Bayonet with a WW2 Plastic/Metal Scabbard- VG++
U.S. WW2 Model 1917 Bayonet. Ricasso marked; “Remington 1917” with WW2 molded plastic and parkerized metal scabbard. The bayonet is 21 7/8” overall with a 16 15/16” blade. The WW2 molded plastic and metal scabbard is 17 5/8” overall. Model 1917 Bayonets were issued in WW2 for Model 1917 Rifles that were issued to National Guard units and for WW2 Trench Guns, and were issued with M-1917 plastic scabbards. This bayonet is very good plus condition. The blade is full, and un-sharpened. It has most of it’s original gun metal gray finish. The left riccasso is marked; “1917” and “REMINGTON” in a circle logo. The right riccasso is marked; “U.S.”, an eagle head “logo” with “21” below, and “X” with “3” below. These inspection marks were unevenly stamped and are partial. Both sides have blue/black finish at the riccassos and the balance of the blades are gun metal gray. The blade sides at the spine show wear from the scabbard retention spring and with minor wear to the finish at the blade tip. The guard rifle ring has bright highlights from wear and the butt has edge wear. The locking button is worn bright. The wooden grips scales have light bruses and several larger dents. The M-1917 Scabbard is marked; “M-1917” and “B.M.CO” below. Beckwith Manufacturing Company’s Victory Plastics Division of Hudson, Massachusetts made these scabbards. These Model 1917 Bayonets in the WW2 issued scabbard are getting scarce. If you have a WW2 Trench Gun, this bayonet fits it. This example is in very collectable condition with wear from light carry. It has a near excellent blade. Price: $395.00 (ref. C-324)
