U.S. Navy WW2 MARK 1 Knife- by PAL

$280.00

U.S. Navy Mark 1 Work Knife by PAL. The knife is 10 1/8” overall with a 5 ¼” blade. The blade has nearly all it’s factory medium gray Parkerizing, with a 5/8” fine cat whisker scratch on the upper portion of the left side blade flat. The blade edge appears to have been lightly honed, though it is not distracting and has no nicks or blems, it is just not the factory edge. The left riccaso is marked; “U. S. N. MARK 1” There is a small loss of the Parkerizing on the right riccaso near the maker markings, which are; “RH PAL (logo)- 36”. This example is noted as Mark 1 variation No. 23 in Cole’s Book; “U.S. Military Knives”. The handle has the black, yellow and red spacers at each end of the smooth stacked leather washer handle. The handle is factory dull with a washer showing lighter color rub on the right-side center. The aluminum butt is factory dull/matt. The scabbard is the plastic/fiber later model made by Beckwith Manufacturing Company, Victory Plastics Division, and has this info on the back-side of the metal throat. The front of the throat is marked; “U. S. N. MK 1”. The back of the throat has some fine surface handling scratches, though only surface marks. The gray web belt loop and safety strap are near excellent, maybe having some age and handling discoloring, nearly not noticeable. The plastic scabbard body retains nearly all it’s factory dull/matt finish. This example of a U.S.N. Mark 1 Knife is near excellent, and might be tough to improve on in an advanced collection of WW2 knives. A great knife! Price: $280.00 (ref. C-326)
