French Bronze Medallion commemorating MONNAIE DE PARIS in the year, 1900. 50 millimeters in diameter. The Monnaie de Paris is a government-owned institution responsible for producing France's coins. Founded in AD 864 with the Edict of Pistres, it is the world's oldest continuously running minting institution. Depicted on the front is a winged warrier in front of items of the arts, industry, and government. Circling the rim are the title; “MONNAIE DE PARIS”. The reverse shows a woman holding a large ledger with “1900” on it’s front. A child reaches for the book from her side. The rounded rim is impress marked “BRONZE” in small type, ¼” long. This is a lovely Paris souvenir from the year 1900. It was the same year the Paris Exposition was held. In very fine to excellent condition, with even patina, and with no wear. Price: $225.00 (ref.
