Camillus “Big Jack” #26 two blade folding Knife. This sturdy two blade jack knife weighs nearly a half pound and is 5 ¼” long. It has German silver bolsters, brass liners and Delrin “Indian Stag” handles. The larger blade is 4“ long and has the acid etched “SWORD BRAND” crossed swords logo, noting “HAND MADE” on the side of the blade. The ricasso is marked in three lines; “CAMILLUS, STAINLESS, U.S.A.”. The reverse ricasso is marked with the model number; “26”. The second, finer blade is 3 7/8” long and is un-marked. The “BIG JACK” first appeared in the CAMILLUS Catolog in 1972. This un-used knife comes with it’s original box! One end of the lid portion has the original sticker noting the model; “#26” and the original price; “$14.00”. The lid portion helps identify the knife’s year of manufacture by noting; “…our 99th Year!” Camillus Cutlery Company started in 1876 in Camillus, N.Y. This knife was retailed in 1975! The bottom of the lower box half has advertising; “WHY CAMILLUS HAS THE EDGE”. Camillus was one of nine prime contractors manufacturing M-3 Fighting Knives in WW2 for the US Government. Sadly, the company, as it was, declared bankruptcy in 2007. This boxed knife shows the quality of a famous American company. The only condition notes I can observe are a group of three tiny darkened marks on the finer blade spring back, these are fine and easy to overlook. The edge of the ricasso has a slightly unfinished finish, and the markings; “CAMILLUS” and “Stainless” appear deeply struck. This example is near mint and in the original box. Price: $135.00 (ref.
