Hensoldt Wetzlar 8 x 56 Nacht-Dialyt Binoculars. This model has eight times magnafication and a 56 mm outer glass. This wide outer glass allows a large amount of light to enter, and provides terrific low light vision. The fine German optical glass provides a crystal clear image. 8 7/8” tall x 5 5/8” wide at outer glass end x 2 7/16” diameter of  each outer glass barrel. They are marked at the eye-piece bridge; “Hensoldt Wetzlar” logo, “732187”, and “Nacht-Dialyt 8 x 56”. The outer bridge button is marked “Made in Germany”.  Based on the serial number, 732187, these roof prism binoculars were made between 1948 and 1962, most likely in the early 1950’s. These great German binoculars are in excellent condition with just extremely light handling marks scattered over black painted finishes. This set has not had much use. The optics are clean and bright. There is a small flake of interior paint (in the 6:30 clock face position) within the left barrel. It appears on the edge of the field of view. Otherwise, the optics are excellent. Likewise, the leather carrying case is in very nice condition. The leather tab on the closure spring latch is lightly flaked from age, but is strong and serviceable. The case is marked at it’s top with the “Hensoldt-Wetzlar” logo, and “Made in Germany” on it’s bottom. The straps and metal buttons are both present for a shoulder strap, but it is absent. This would be a minor fix. Hensoldt-Wetzlar is a premium German optics company, on a level with Zeiss. The quality of this pair would be hard to better with a currently produced binocular.
