Japanese Chopstick Rest CARP Pin. This wonderful carp is carved from mother of pearl, with yellow and black dyed applied eyes. Overall 3 5/8” long x wide. Originally used on a dinner table as a chopstick rest, a 14K gold pin. 1 3/4” long with clasp has been added to create a piece of jewelry. The clasp has a safety lever, and the clasp is marked; “14K”. The pin weighs 13.1 dwt. (0.73 oz). I would date this in the last quarter of the 19th century as a pin. The Carp Chopstick Rest is most likely older.
