$225.00

British Commemorative Medalions in a brass case. Group of four. Each medallion is 27 millimeter in diameter, White Metal. These were produced by Allen & Moore. The first has a portrait of Prince Albert with his birth date and marriage date, 1840. The reverse has a depiction of “England’s Pride”. The second has Queen Victoria with her birth date, the date she was crowned, and their marriage date. The reverse shows the statue of England’s Glory (“God Save the Queen”). The third shows the Prince of Wales and notes; “Britain’s Hope”, and the reverse shows a sailing warship and proclaims; “The Wooden Walls of Olde England”. The fourth medalion has profiles of the royal family on the front and lists the members of the royal family; Victoria, Albert, Alice, Alfred, Helena, Louisa and Arthur, with birth dates on the rear. The pressed brass container has “THE QUEEN, PRINCE ALBERT, AND BRITAIN’S HOPE” pressed into the cover, and the Royal Seal pressed into the bottom. “NO 20” is inked onto the side of the container. The highlights of several medallions have dulled patina from the bright finish, others have minor patina. These are likely uncirculated and spent most of the last 170+ years in their brass container. It israre to find these Victorian commemorative medalions together in a container meant to house them. Circa 1850’s Price: $225.00 (ref. B-855)
