Winchester - Western Exhibition Trick-Shootering Coin

$50.00

Back in the day ammunition and firearms companies hired accomplished shooter to promote their guns and ammo by putting on gun handling demontrations at gun clubs and county fairs. Annie Oakley and the Topperweins are famous names that come to mind. This Winchester-Western advertising coin was used at such an event. it is a non-ferrous white metal, 1 3/16” in diameter. One side has “WINCHESTER” in it’s trademark font and “WORLD FAMOUS FIREARMS AMMUNITION” and the other has “WESTERN WORLD CHAMPION AMMUNITION”. This example has a .22 caliber bullet hole shot through it. Most likely this coin was tossed into the air, at a shooting exhibition, and shot at while in the air. Then it was likely given to a lucky spectator as a souvenir of the occasion. I am making a guess that this coin is pre-1964. The edges of the bullet hole are raw and sharp. Price: $50.00 (ref. B-7616)
