“WINGS OVER THE POLE” Commenorative Watch FOB with Compass. late 1920's

$120.00

“WINGS OVER THE POLE” Watch FOB with Compass. Stamped aluminum, 1 7/8” tall x 1 3/8” wide. This fob commemorates Richard Byrd’s November 28, 1929, flight over the South Pole with pilot Bernt Balchen, and two others that took off in the plane Floyd Bennett, and headed for the South Pole. The fob shows the plane with ski landing gear at it’s top, with two Penguins and “WINGS OVER THE POLE” bannered across it’s base. A brass compass with a ¼” diameter face is inset between the penguins feet. The rear of the compass is marked; “CZECHO”. This compass is functional. There are no other markings to the reverse of the fob. The condition of the FOB is very good plus. It has slight wear from use noticeable on the highlights of the penguins breasts and heads. The compass is held in place with solder, but is slightly loose at it’s top, still it is firmly in place. Here is a very nice example of the commemoration of the first flight over the South Pole, this watch fob remains in nice, complete condition. Price: $120.00 (ref. B-906)
